Pastel Artists Canada has awarded Michael with Master Pastellist status. (6/6/08)

"Weybridge Wet Spring" was awarded the Outstanding Genre Award at the 2008 Fourth Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at Arts Center/Old Forge in Old Forge, NY. Exhibit runs from May 10-June 8. See the painting here.

Nature Trust of New Brunswick has commissioned Michael to paint two endangered natural areas, the Caughey-Taylor Nature Preserve and Navy Island, both near St Andrews, NB.

Michael has been awarded a Shirl Smithson Scholarship for 2008 from Oil Painters of America.

The Sedona Plein Air Festival has invited Michael for the third year in a row. This year's event, which will once again bring 30 of the top plein air painters together, will be October 19-26. Last year's artists included William Scott Jennings, Tom Lynch, Clark Mitchell and Marcia Burtt.
