new students have never painted outdoors before. I designed this short,
easy-to-take course to give them a jump-start on learning how to paint
in the wonderful outdoors." - Michael
This
online workshop allows you to work at your own pace to learn the basics
of painting oil or pastel en plein air. In one session, you will:
- Get
a 15-page manual (in Acrobat PDF format) describing the basic equipment and supplies needed and
where you can get them
- Watch
a set of training videos (totalling 28 minutes, and you can view them as many times as you wish, whenever you wish!):
- On equipment basics and how to set up a French easel (5:17 minutes long)
- On how to abstract the landscape into a set of value shapes (3:02 minutes long)
- On how to begin your painting in oil (9:18 minutes long)
- On how to being your painting in pastel (11:10 minutes long)
Once
you've completed the above, you'll:
- Go out and make your first painting
- E-mail an image of your painting to Michael
- Then
receive his personal critique and suggestions for improvement via an
e-mail or a 30-minute phone call (your choice!)
- PLUS
a $20 credit to any workshop with Michael on Campobello Island, New
Brunswick.
Cost
of the workshop: $70 (payable
through PayPal below)
Requirements:
- Internet
connection. (All materials are delivered on-line. If you have a slow
Internet connection, we can send you a DVD with the training videos
for an additional $15 - please let us know when you sign up that you
need the DVD and we will bill you for the additional fee. )
- Ability
to take snapshots of your work and e-mail them. (Exact specifications
will be sent on enrollment.)
